Many people come through our doors day by day, some of them for the first time. Recognising that we could make them more welcome a few volunteers have been trying to do just that recently.

Here are some of their comments:

·          I found this a very worthwhile time on Thursday morning. It was interesting to see that the chapel was used by three separate people.

  •             It is a busy day with the baby clinic. I managed to speak to seven 'first time' mothers and gave them leaflets about our Tuesday Toddlers group.

·          spoke to several people who came through the doors and then were not sure where to go and helped two people who thought they needed to see Naomi but in fact were looking for ‘Live at Home’ staff.

·          I also spoke to three people in the coffee bar who were on their own. One gentleman made the comment that he comes because it is so friendly.

·          A couple coming to use the coffee bar saw my badge and thought it had the name of the church on it. When he read WELCOME he made the comment. ‘'That's nice!’

What encouraging and positive feedback this is! Can we build on it?

For now, we are having one person as Welcomer each day, covering whatever time they can between 10 am and 2 pm. So far, four people are involved.

With more volunteers we could cover more days and welcome more people.

Would you be able to give this a go?

If so, please have a word with Barbara Dunton  or me.

We would be pleased to hear from you.
