The service operates from The Winchester Centre, 68 St George's Street, Winchester, SO23 8AH. Counselling is available five days a week, during the daytime and evenings. The counsellors are volunteers from a number of Winchester churches and are professionally trained as well as being Christians.
The service seeks to: - Offer a counselling service to the whole community regardless of race, income, religion, gender, (dis)ability or type of problem.
- Provide properly trained and accredited counsellors who work under regular supervision to facilitate constructive change in those who come for help within a caring accepting relationship of trust.
- Ensure that those coming for help are free to make their own decisions and that counsellors ill not impose their faith on them.
Counselling at The Olive Branch is for those who are facing difficulties, depressed, anxious or confused, worried about their families or have other problems. The service is based on listening, not advice giving. The majority of referrals are from GP practices sp we have a reputation with the local health services and are able to respond within a week of initial contact. Clients are asked to make a donation based on their circumstances so we are a socially inclusive charity. This is possible because of funding that we receive from the local authorities, churches and private donors. |
