A new series of ‘TOP TIPS’ for minimising our environmental impact and caring for God’s creation.

Here we are starting a new series of ‘TOP TIPS’ for minimising our environmental impact and caring for God’s creation. So enjoy, and take up the challenge! – Rob

‘Green Electricity’

Reconsidering the source of your home’s electricity could be the biggest single step you could take towards reducing carbon emissions. All the major electricity providers now provide green energy tariffs which you can choose – often with not much extra in cost. Options for green energy tariffs include:

Energy match: your energy supplier matches some or all of the electricity you use by producing renewable energy that they feed into the National Grid.

Green fund: your supplier funds renewable energy or environmental projects on your behalf.

Carbon offset: your supplier offsets the CO2 emissions from the energy you use, by planting trees or investing in CO2 reducing projects. Not everyone agrees with offsetting in principle, but it might be one to consider.

Or there are now a number of green electricity suppliers that specialise solely in green energy production, such as Eco-tricity who price match the main suppliers standard tariffs.

Could you consider switching? There are a number of comparison websites which can help. www.uswitch.com is a useful one.
