Live at Home Scheme Print
The Winchester Live at Home Scheme, which is part of a national initiative of Methodist Homes, is one of about 50 similar schemes set up round the country. The main aim is to ’recruit, train and equip volunteers to provide support and friendship to older people in Winchester who still live in their own homes and may have become isolated and lonely for whatever reason’.

City Centre Chaplaincy Print
This is a new initiative on the part of city centre churches to provide a chaplain for those who work in the city.
 
Night Shelter Print
This is an initiative of Churches Together in Winchester which originally used church halls but eventually was able to acquire its own premises which were successfully adapted to provide attractive accommodation for up to 16 travellers, both men and women who would otherwise be sleeping ‘rough’.

Olive Branch Print
The service operates from The Winchester Centre, 68 St George's Street, Winchester, SO23 8AH. Counselling is available five days a week, during the daytime and evenings. The counsellors are volunteers from a number of Winchester churches and are professionally trained as well as being Christians.

Christmas Project Print
Many will already be aware of this project which was started approximately 10 years ago by our church and now involves other churches in Winchester including Baptist, Christ Church, St Lawrence and St Peter’s. Volunteers visit (in pairs) a family that has been referred to us by Social Services to ascertain their needs and then shop with or on behalf of the family.
 
The World Action Group Print
The World Action Group exists to look at international issues and bring them to the rest of the United Church. These may be issues to do with development, justice or human rights. The group regularly arranges talks and social events. The group is responsible for setting up a 2 year project to help the church learn about a specific subject in more depth. This also has a fund-raising element to it.
